So we have to choose between Yahoo and Facebook?

Yeah, Microsoft is in the mix, but if that happened I would leave Tumblr altogether.

I can tolerate Yahoo (after all, I do have an inactive Flickr account) although Facebook would be harder to tolerate.

I chose Tumblr because of their libertarian mindset when it comes to content (basically don’t violate copyright and federal laws and they’ll treat you like a grown up).

In case the worse does happen I do have a few options at my disposal though (such as WordPress via Pagely and PostHaven) but I’d rather stay here without fear of Facebook censoring my content.

Update: It looks like Facebook will not bid on Tumblr which means Yahoo is the only realistic option (after Microsoft of course, but they won’t sell to them).

I think Yahoo just bought Tumblr for $1 billion (according to chatter that I’m hearing). Yahoo will probably give Tumblr independence the way that Facebook has given Instagram independence.

Update: Apparently Microsoft and Facebook were also trying to buy Tumblr, but it looks like Yahoo beat them to it (pending board approval).

I do not like the idea of Facebook buying Tumblr, although I would prefer them to Microsoft (who would kill Tumblr’s culture with silly PC policies).

Yahoo is the lesser of the 3 evils, but CEO Marissa has done an outstanding job with Yahoo so I’ll welcome my new ~~Yumblr~~ Yahoo overlords!
