I Hate Exercising (But I Love The Results)

So after discovering FitFu earlier this year I’ve forced myself to get into the habit of exercising frequently throughout the week.

While this might surprise some of my friends, I actually do not enjoy exercising, or rather (as I like to put it) the “act of exercising for the sheer pleasure of straining ones muscles.”

It’s not that I think exercising is silly, dumb or a waste of time (as not exercising can be catastrophic upon one’s mental and physical health) it’s just there are hundreds of things I’d rather do than exercise (such as eating, sleeping, geeking, or chilling with friends).

To make matters worse, I can not eat any food before I exercise (lest I vomit the meal I ate up to four hours ago) and I need to drink at least one liter of water before I exercise (lest I pass out from dehydration).

Although this causes me to skip breakfast early in the morning (not a good habit to acquire in my honest opinion), I love the results of exercising (and I’m not talking about body appearance here).

Aside from reduced stress, I’ve noticed that I’m able to withstand the blazing heat outside a lot longer than before (by several hours) and I’m also a lot more restful when I sleep (despite receiving less than 6 hours a day).

Currently I exercise every other day (or 3-4 times a week) and my routine usually consists of doing 300 push ups (3 sets of 100 push ups), 300 dips (3 sets of 100 dips or 6 sets of 50 push ups), 500 jack knives and 300 bicycle crunches (2 sets composed of 200 reps and 100 reps). Debating about throwing pull ups in the mix (pending on whether I have enough energy at the end).

I’m still trying to figure out what I should do in between the times I do not exercise (as I want to give my muscles some rest lest I tear them down from overuse), although it looks like running is quickly becoming an option.

Note: Does anyone know any social exercising apps on the iPhone? Runkeeper is okay, but I’m looking for something that doesn’t rely entirely upon Facebook or Twitter to build a social community.

iConfused With WalMart

So my local WalMart is unable to secure the latest and greatest iPhone (iPhone 4 to be exact) and currently only sells iPhone 3GS. But…

…they are somehow able to sell the iPad 2?

I wonder if Apple had something to do with this?

Note: Yes I know the first picture says iPhone 3G but they only sell iPhone 3GS. Not sure if they will remove the sign until iPhone 5 comes out.

Dog People

I love dogs! Why? Because no matter whether you’re having a great day, a horrible day, or anything in between they are always excited to see you (provided they know you and don’t bite you that is).

Cats on the other hand are (from my experience) different. If you are able to win their affection they may or may not display it in public, giving you the cold shoulder as soon as you see them.

I think friends generally fall into one of these two categories. You have some who publicly enjoy seeing you in person, and the small minority who truly enjoy your presence, but not in public.

Or as I like to say Dog People and Cat People. I’m not sure why I spend so much energy investing myself into Cat People, but honestly it’s becoming a draining experience.

And it’s something that I hope changes in the future. Soon…

Mission Accomplished: Well Done Obama, Well Done

As you all probably know by now Osama Bin Laden has exited this life with the help of an American bullet.

Honestly this is a GREAT day, one where Americans have finally received justice against a mad man who didn’t hesitate to kill innocent men, women, and children.

For those wondering about the details, he was killed by a sniper in Pakistan, which was quickly followed by a short firefight with Bin Laden’s loony followers.

While I have not personally been a fan of President Obama, tonight I’ll celebrate Obama’s victory (as well as the troops who killed him) over Bin Laden.

Well done, Barack Obama. Well done Sir!

GOP: The First (Real) Presidential Contenders Are Here

Yes, I know other GOPer’s have entered (or will enter) the 2012 slugfest, but these two are in my honest opinion real contenders (as in they actually have a chance at winning the general, and not just the primary).

Mitt Romney of Massachusetts has thrown his hat into race, as well as Tim Pawlenty from Minnesota. Since Tim is new to the game, here’s his promo video (with my thoughts underneath).

He’s a fresh face to the game and apparently sounds like a nice guy too. He has an impressive record, but he comes off as a career politician (which means he may have trouble reaching beyond the bureaucratic bubble if elected like Obama).

I do think he has a 50% chance of surviving the GOP primaries, although as long as he doesn’t engage in any mud slinging he should be fine.

Mitt Romney is more familiar to people thanks to his campaign against John McCain, and honestly he was my prime choice last year.

Unlike Pawlenty, Romney has real (or rather longer) experience in the private sector, as well as experience with being Governor in the most progressive state in America (which is weird seeing he is conservative).

Romney does have the smarts to help us get out of the mess, but I’m still skeptical on whether he will survive the primary (even if I feel he could beat Obama in the general).

Mitt will have to contend with the past of RomneyCare (which is somewhat similar to ObamaCare) as well as bigots people who don’t like Mormons in order to secure the nomination.

I give him 25% chance of surviving the primaries due to his big business ties (which progressives and the tea party brigade see as evil), although unlike last time he may actually put up a decent fight.

Any others?

What about Herman Cain? Too theocratic for my taste. What about Donald Trump? His faith in Birtherism will lead to his undoing.

Sarah Palin? She’s done a fantastic job as governor, but her leaving early makes me uneasy (as we don’t need another amateur in office).

I’m not sure who else is running, but thus far America has 2 real alternatives on the GOP front.
