When Vampires Go SciFi (Underworld: Awakening)

Just finished watching Underworld: Awakening, and I think I just saw the best vampire/werewolf movie ever made–and I’m not even a living dead fantasy type of flick lover!

I loved how the Underworld franchise is moving away from the fantasy aspect of vampires and werewolves and is incorporating more science within the story.

Spoiler Alert: this girl is important. ;-)

The only thing I hated about this flick is the fact that I’ll have to wait until the next movie. Let’s just say it should be full of hybrid fun. ;-)

Guns, Aliens And Freaky Funky Music

After the dismal failings of Skyline (thanks to everyone who warned me about it!), I think I’ve found the movie that I’ll pay big bucks to see.

As far as I can tell from the preview, it has everything I want in a movie: action, adventure, suspense, drama, aliens, war, and most importantly a good story.

Truth be told I’m not sure if this is going to end up being one of those happy stories where humanity saves the day thanks to Area 51 and a flight to the Moon, but if I were a hostile alien species bent on conquering a highly aggressive world known as Earth, I’d blitzkrieg it from afar instead of risking alien flesh and blood taming the hostiles.

That said, I’m still rooting for the humans. ;-) Mainly because of this photo:

Okay so it was more than this photo. But truthfully this looks like a more realistic alien invasion. Note: Are the aliens using robots as their “shock troops?”

Avatar Was Stupid–Stupidly Awesome! (Video)

After seeing Avatar in theatres for the first time (in 3D nonetheless), here is my take on the movie with a pretty package that almost failed.

For the space geeks out there, you probably noticed a few scientific blunders (hint: the proximity of the moon to the planet), but overall this film seemed fairly accurate, although they didn’t explain the near light speed travel aspect.

Not to mention the unobtanium (yeah, I get it, but it would have been better to explain this better than give it a dumb name).

Just Saw WALL-E…

…and I think it was one of the best movies that I have seen in a very long time (at least as far as animated kid films go).

If you have not seen it, I would highly recommend taking your friends (and family) and check out this film. It puts Toy Story and Finding Nemo to shame.

Suicide Bombers Being Promoted By Hollywood?

Yeah! Now I will never be confused as to who is winning the proproganda war in the US.

Apple Trailers give us the scoop.

(Apple.com Trailers) A 19-year-old girl prepares to become a suicide bomber in Times Square. She speaks with no accent; it’s impossible to pinpoint her ethnicity. We never learn why she made her decision – she has made it already. We don’t know whom she represents, what she believes in – we only know she believes it absolutely.

If you ask me, either those men are a poor imitation of Hamas or just decided to purchase winter clothing on sale in the summer.

But then again, what do I know about terrorism. It’s not as if there is a small group of extremists claiming to speak for the worlds second largest religion in order to bring paradise on Earth by imposing theocracy eastern style.

But then again I am just a dumb, ignorant westerner who is fascinated more about space than politics, so what do I know?

Snakes On A Plane Spin Offs?

Of all the social networks that I’ve seen online, Facebook by far is the one with the least amount of clutter.

While surfing on Facebook, I came across this group called Snakes On A Plane Spinoffs which lists some pretty funny titles for a movie I will never see.

My top ten favorites?

  • Cats on a Bus
  • Chimps on a Blimp
  • Elephants on an Elevator
  • Geese on the Hindenburg
  • Komodo Dragons in School
  • Lice on Rice
  • Turkeys in Turkey
  • Rhinos on a Roller Coaster
  • Snakes in Plane Clothing
  • Wookies on a TIE Fighter

But despite all of these glorious titles, nothing can beat this:

Sometimes you don’t need to visit the theatre in order to be entertained.
