Jesus Makes Life Harder

Yeah, I know I’ll get a lot of flack for saying this, but am I the only one who see’s how extremely difficult it is to follow Christ’s teachings.

Here’s one example (as there are plenty more):

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”

~Matthew 5:43-45

I’ve heard people talk about these verses forever, but I have seen very few actually live this out as if it were a natural way of living.

I mean if you met someone you REALLY didn’t like, would you want to bless them with a Christmas gift? Or a happy unbirthday present?

Perhaps I should use an exmaple here.

Let’s say this man below…

…showed up in front of me at the Mall or even WalMart (which I doubt he would ever visit unless he was campaigning), would Christ expect me to wave and smile at him–or even give him a fist bump?

Despite the fact he is screwing over the economic future of America by spending (tax payer) money faster than a drunken sailer at Vegas? (can you say deficits!!)

Perhaps.

But unless I somehow obtain 10% of Jesus’s love for humanity, there is no way on I can fully live up to this commandment.

I'm Suing Google (For Text Spamming Me To Death)

Okay, before this reaches Techmeme, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am not suing Google, rather I am VERY frustrated that one of their online office suites, Google Calendar will NOT stop sending me text messages reminders despite the fact that I sent the STOP command, and even turned off reminders in my gCalendar event.

I thought this was an isolated case, but it seems that numerous folks are experiencing the same thing, on various carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile).

Since these texts are costing me money, I am going to ban Google indefinitely until this problem is either resolved, or Congress grants me a personal bailout.

Note: For those of you suffering under the same thing as well, just simply call your provider and have them block 483-68.

No Internet For Me?

Sigh…and I needed to go online to finish up some work tonight too. I'll call AT&T tonight to see what's up, although I may consider switching to cable (or satellite).

Update: It’s back up, but “spotty.” I’m definitely going to look into another carrier, as I am not “too thrilled” with AT&T’s service lately.

Firefox Is Becoming Evil Again

I am really getting irritated with Firefox lately. Although the browser is awesome, its major weakness is the fact that it is a glutton when it comes to memory use.

Today alone I had to restart my computer three times because I couldn’t satisfy its hunger with my computer’s resources. Even with the various hacks employed.

I am sticking with Internet Explorer 7 for now, although I may consider using Opera.

And thus begins my search for a new browser again. Sigh…

Update (5/22): I discovered (yet another) useful hack that may solve my Firefox woes.

I seriously hope the Mozilla team finds a fix to this in Firefox 3, as this is getting to be quite annoying.

(Reaganwuzthebest on Free Republic) Here you go, THIS is what you need to change, VERY SIMPLE!

Find this line using the about:config in the URL = browser.cache.memory.enable

Click or double click on it so it reads: FALSE It should turn Bold also, to note the change.

I tried it, loaded up on as many pages as I could find and WHAMMO! Memory never exceeded my limits and dropped down to the 22k evertime a page would finally complete loading!!!

I’m still testing out Opera as a back up alternative, although I have to admit the web looks a lot prettier in IE7 and Firefox than Opera. Yeah, I know, I’m picky…

Spam Invading My Gmail

The problem is not getting to be ridiculous. It’s just a bit annoying to go from no spam for months on end to about five a day.

What’s even worse is the fact that spammers seem to type either in all caps, or unable to spell out half their entire message.

If you are going to spam me, at least use proper grammar. You would think they would teach these things at the “annoy planet Earth” spam conferences, assuming that spammers actually attend them.
