Aliens: 1, Humans: – 6 Billion (V)

I am in shock how the show V (which was dying in the ratings department) ended.

I decided to watch the last episode desiring to see how the whole thing would play out.

While the show featured more of the sentient crocodiles breeding with humans scenario (which I hate about the show) it did throw in some awesome surprises.

Most of the characters that I didn’t like (exiled queen Diana, the naive FBI child, the black V who started the whole “breed with humans” thing) ended up with quick exits while everyone else was blissed (think mind control) by the V halfling child.

Unfortunately the show ended with the aliens winning which means humanity is destined to become food (if not devoted slaves) for their new green overlords.

While the show could always come back on air, it’s best to leave the ending as it is.

Why? Because sentient crocodiles and humans just don’t mix! :-P

Note: To my friends and family who loved the show, yes it was a great story but now that it’s off the air, perhaps you’ll begin to appreciate Fringe! :-)

I Love You Amy. And Thanks For The Card

.
My friends will probably be upset about me saying this but I’m usually apathetic when it comes to receiving greeting cards.

Whether it’s for the holidays, birthday, or a random event, most greeting cards I received end up in the trash bin as I try not to hold onto any paper (especially in the age of digital bliss we now live in).

Unless I scan it towards Evernote, the card (along with its contents) usually disappears after a week, if not sooner.

Amy however is a different story.

Call it love or call it folly, but either way it seems that even the little things she does like presenting a Valentine’s card (or years ago creating a silly peanut crown which is another story of itself) I end up saving rather than throwing away.

Even though I know that it’s the information inside that counts and not the physical card itself.

So Amy if you were wondering, yes I’m still going to keep a physical copy of the card.

But I’m still going to scan it to our private scrapbook on Evernote too! (hey, backing up your info is very important to a geek). ;-)

FitFu Is Kicking My Wazoo

So not too long ago I downloaded this app called FitFu in order to help regain some of the youthful stamina I had when I was younger.

Although I’m technically still in shape (I still have a six pack), I needed to find a way to stay active in order to avoid gaining a watermelon belly in the future.

While FitFu is fun to use (I’ve already broken past a few personal bests) I’ve realized that I need to improve the number of pushups, crunches and squats within a minute.

Personal goals are:

60 crunches/minute: I use to be able to do that when I was younger without breaking a sweat. I’m doing about 30-40/minute which is pathetic as it means I’ve slacked off. :-(

50 push ups/minute: When I was a child doing this was easy. The fact I can’t even reach half way there in 60 seconds means that I need to spend more time doing this.

Squats: I’ve never been into squats (I prefer running instead), but according to FitFu I’m suppose to wait 2 seconds between each squat (so 30 in a minute is the most I’m suppose to do). I think I’ll concentrate on endurance with this one.

The only thing I loathe about FitFu is that you have to unlock pushups by performing other exercises (like knee pushups?!!), although there are in app upgrades available if you want to skip over some of the silly exercises.

Between FitFu & Run Keeper, I think I’ve found a fun & affordable way to stay in shape without having to pay out the wazoo every month for a gym membership.

Slangish

In an attempt to blog once a day upon my personal site, I'm using a site called Plinky to help inspire random thoughts for my personal blog.

The Children Of Hamelin by Norman Spinrad.

Most (if not all) of the slang words that I use are from scifi shows and flicks, which is probably not too surprising. Truth be told I'm not a fan of slang words in general (as it can make it harder for people to understand what you are exactly saying) but here are a few of my favorites:

Frak (from Battlestar Galactica)

Shiny (from Serenity and Firefly)

Reavers! (Serenity and Firefly)

There are also a few that are technically not slang words, but phrases that I enjoy:

Love and Peace! (Vash the Stampede, Trigun)

The ticket to the future is always open. (Rem Saverem, Trigun)

No! Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try. (Yoda, Star Wars)

Outside of the scifi geek lingo however I don't use slang words too often and try to avoid them as slang words tend to have different means depending your location.

A Festivus Miracle! (Facebook)

Well to my surprise it looks like my Facebook overlords have blessed me with the social inbox which means I have yet another email account to manage. ;-)

While it’s far from a Gmail killer, it definitely has killed off other email clients (like Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.) due to the fact it actually can defend me against spam.

For those wondering, yes I do have invites available (10 total) although I’m going to offer them to my Facebook friends first before giving it away to strangers.

Note: For those of you who don’t understand the Festivus miracle joke, you can click here for enlightenment. ;-)
